At the core of Prosperity Bank’s operations is the role of the Banking Center Manager. This position calls for the efficient direction and administration of the banking center’s operations. A significant part of the job is to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures and to oversee the provision of a full range of services to customers and prospective customers. This role not only demands professional customer service but also requires the effective training, supervision, and direction of the lobby and teller staff. Additionally, the Banking Center Manager is tasked with ensuring that banking center transactions, expenses, and profitability align with the Bank’s standards.
Key Functions of the Role
Successful performance in this role demands a high level of efficiency in several areas. Key among these are the supervision of daily routine operations, ensuring banking center security, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, effective customer service, cross-selling of bank services, and the implementation of changes to established policies and procedures within the banking center.
Another crucial aspect of the role is maintaining proper cash controls. The Banking Center Manager is responsible for ensuring that all banking center transactions are balanced at the close of each day, overseeing the individual accountability for cash handling, controlling daily deposits, and periodically verifying cash in possession of tellers and cash on the premises.
Managing Staff and Customer Relations
In addition to managing operations and cash controls, the Banking Center Manager plays a critical role in supervising the banking center staff. This involves providing leadership through effective communication and objective setting, determining work methods and flow, conducting regular meetings and training sessions, tracking individual progress, conducting performance appraisals, approving leave requests, and maintaining accurate payroll records.
The Banking Center Manager also maintains effective, professional business relations with customers. This involves promptly resolving customer requests and complaints, informing customers of the Bank’s services and policies, and counseling customers regarding their financial needs and services requested.
Administrative Functions and Performance Measurements
On the administrative side, the Banking Center Manager ensures that banking center operations are well coordinated, manages and oversees expenses, continually seeks ways to improve operations and productivity, prepares periodic activity reports, and ensures proper maintenance and general housekeeping of the premises.
Performance in this role is measured on several key indicators. These include the efficiency and effectiveness of banking center services, the maintenance or expansion of current customer accounts, the training and efficiency of banking center personnel, the accuracy and timeliness of reports and records, and the maintenance of good working relationships with banking center personnel.
Qualifications for the Role
Prosperity Bank seeks applicants with an associate degree in business or a related field, or equivalent training and work experience. Applicants are expected to have a thorough knowledge of bank services and products, an understanding of related legal and regulatory requirements, and familiarity with branch functions, policies, and procedures. A minimum of three years of related experience in a financial institution, including at least two years of supervisory experience, is required. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills are essential, as are organizational skills, ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment, attention to detail, and ability to maintain an effective and efficient workflow.
