Role Overview: Banking Center Manager

In the role of BCM, you will be expected to foster a positive work environment that inspires, motivates, challenges, and supports team members, while also recognizing exceptional performance. You will be responsible for driving employee engagement and leading efficient operations of a full service banking center. This includes ensuring the proper training and development of the staff to provide excellent customer service.

The BCM is also tasked with building strong relationships with customers. This entails meeting with them in person, both at the branch and at their locations, to discuss their specific banking needs. A significant portion of your time will be spent outside the office, prospecting business and retail customers, and participating in community service opportunities in the market.

Operational Responsibilities

From an operational perspective, the BCM provides oversight to ensure that all established policies, procedures, and security measures are adhered to. This involves supervising, training, and coaching the staff to achieve the Bank’s service, sales, and operational objectives. You will also be responsible for assisting in hiring, with an emphasis on finding the right people who can contribute to the team and help the Bank achieve its goals.

Driving Sales and Service

One of your key responsibilities is to drive the sales and service initiatives of the location. You will be expected to consistently meet and exceed banking center sales goals for loans, deposits, partner referrals, and profitability. This includes promoting the sales culture within the banking center and ensuring that the staff receives the proper management, coaching, and training to demonstrate their abilities to sell and cross-sell products in order to reach individual and team sales goals.

The Importance of Good Leadership

Good leadership is vital in this role. You will be required to communicate the goals of the banking center to the staff and continually monitor performance against these goals. Where necessary, you will need to adjust individual goals and initiate sales promotions to meet the banking center’s targets.

Your role will also require you to build successful working relationships with internal business partners, providing constructive peer feedback when appropriate. Demonstrating sound judgment and decision making by following established guidelines and procedures is also essential.

Qualifications and Skills

Given the responsibilities and expectations of the BCM role, certain skills and qualifications are necessary. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 is preferred, along with the ability to effectively use technological resources for meetings, coaching, and training. A high school diploma is required, and a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Proven leadership experience is also required, along with at least two years of experience in banking, cash handling, sales, and customer service.
