The Role of a Banking Associate at TD
The Banking Associate plays a key role in delivering TD’s brand promise at a store location. The individual in this position is accountable for accurately completing everyday banking transactions and providing advice and educational support on services, products, and tools to help customers achieve their financial goals. The role involves a wide range of tasks, from processing customer transactions to opening new accounts and educating customers on all banking products and services.
The Banking Associate not only carries out transactions but also provides end-to-end advice customers expect: building trust with educational content & tools, providing consultative support, and advocating with proactive insights & recommendations. This role requires a deep understanding of customer financial needs to identify opportunities to promote and educate on products, services, or refer them to the appropriate team member or internal bank partner.
Skills and Experience Required
The ideal candidate is expected to have a high school diploma or GED, with at least one year of experience working with customers in any capacity. This experience can be demonstrated through volunteering, education, or military experience. Teller experience is preferred, and the candidate is required to complete teller training and part 1 of platform training upon hire. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and within deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and a Notary License is preferred.
Key Accountabilities
The Banking Associate is expected to fulfill customer, shareholder, and team accountabilities. Customer accountabilities include providing legendary customer service, establishing and nurturing customer relationships, and managing client meetings. Shareholder accountabilities entail ensuring compliance with company guidelines and regulations, processing transactions accurately, and adhering to required controls. Team accountabilities require the individual to contribute to a positive work environment, participate in personal performance and development activities, and collaborate with team members.
Physical Requirements
The position also has some physical requirements. Some of the tasks such as performing multiple tasks, operating standard office equipment, responding quickly to sounds, sitting, standing, and walking are frequent. Other tasks like domestic travel, lifting/carrying (under 25 lbs.), bending, and kneeling are occasional.
