Key Aspects of the Banking Associate Role

The Banking Associate is a multi-faceted role with responsibilities spanning across various areas within a store location. The associate is responsible for processing customer transactions, opening new accounts, and educating customers on all banking products and services. The role involves building trust with customers through educational content, providing consultative support, and advocating proactive insights and recommendations.

The associate is also expected to utilize TD’s systems and tools to engage with customers and deepen relationships. They need to understand customer financial needs to identify opportunities to promote and educate on products, services, and refer them to the appropriate team member or internal Bank partner. The role also involves servicing the customer on both the teller line and platform as needed, handling everyday banking transactions, debit card/credit card issues, regulation E, mobile and online (digital) banking.

Education and Experience Requirements

The ideal candidate for the Banking Associate role should have a high school diploma or GED and at least a year of experience working with customers. This experience can be demonstrated through any of the following: volunteering, education, or military experience. Other preferred skills and experiences include demonstrated customer service skills, teller experience, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A notary license is also preferred.

Customer and Shareholder Accountabilities

The Banking Associate is expected to provide legendary customer service while transacting, promoting, educating, and referring TD Products to new and existing customers. They are also responsible for managing wait times, engaging in lobby leadership, and understanding and supporting the bank’s customer service strategy. In terms of shareholder accountabilities, the associate is expected to ensure compliance when completing operational activities in accordance with company guidelines and regulations.

As part of the TD team, the Banking Associate is expected to contribute to a positive work environment by aligning with TD Model, Brand, and Culture. They are also expected to actively seek opportunities to improve the delivery of work with high attention to quality standards. The associate may also be required to train and act as a mentor to newer colleagues.
