The Role of a Banking Associate

The Banking Associate plays a key role in delivering TD’s Brand promise at a store location. They are responsible for accurately completing everyday banking transactions and providing advice and educational support on services, products, and tools to assist Customers in achieving their financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

Banking Associates perform a wide range of tasks across multiple areas within a Store location. This includes processing customer transactions, opening new accounts, and educating customers on all banking products and services. They also utilize TD’s systems and tools to engage with customers, providing advice and guidance to ultimately attract and retain the customer.

Successful Banking Associates understand the financial needs of customers and are able to identify opportunities to promote and educate on products, services, and refer them to the appropriate team member or internal Bank partner. They deliver end-to-end advice customers expect: building trust with educational content & tools, providing consultative support, and advocating with proactive insights & recommendations.

Education & Experience

Candidates for the Banking Associate role should have at least a high school diploma or GED. A year of experience working with customers in any capacity is preferred. This can be demonstrated through volunteering, education, or military experience. Strong organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and within deadlines are essential for the role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required.

Customer Accountabilities

Banking Associates are expected to provide legendary customer service consistently. They establish and nurture customer relationships by actively listening to customer needs, engaging in additional conversations to identify any additional needs, and offering a solution or partner referral. They also manage wait times to meet with a Banker by scheduling, rescheduling, or canceling client meetings.

Shareholder Accountabilities

Banking Associates ensure compliance when completing operational activities in accordance with company guidelines and regulations such as Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act to minimize risk and protect the customer. They accurately process cash/deposit/withdrawal transactions and other account servicing requests.

Employee/Team Accountabilities

Banking Associates contribute to a positive work environment by aligning to TD Model, Brand, and Culture. They collaborate with team members to contribute to the success of the team and organization.

Physical Requirements

The Banking Associate role involves performing sedentary work frequently, performing multiple tasks continuously, and operating standard office equipment continuously. It may require occasional domestic travel.
