Responsibilities of a Banking Associate

The banking associate is an integral part of TD’s Personal & Commercial Banking line of business. This role involves accurately completing everyday banking transactions and providing advice and educational support on banking services, products, and tools to help customers achieve their financial goals. The banking associate performs a wide range of tasks across multiple areas within a store location, including processing customer transactions, opening new accounts, and educating customers on all banking products and services. They are responsible for building trust with customers, providing consultative support, and advocating with proactive insights & recommendations.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate for the banking associate role at TD should have a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of experience working with customers. This experience can be demonstrated through any of the following: volunteering, education, or military experience. Strong organization skills, excellent communication abilities, effective problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to schedule and prioritize work are also essential for this role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, and a notary license is preferred.

Commitment to Customer Service

At TD, the banking associate plays a significant role in delivering an exceptional customer experience. The banking associate is responsible for establishing and nurturing customer relationships, managing wait times for customers to meet with a banker, and understanding and supporting the bank’s customer service strategy. They are also expected to drive referrals to store colleagues and partners to support the broader, more complex financial needs of customers.

Compliance and Regulatory Responsibilities

The banking associate must ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures. They are expected to accurately process cash/deposit/withdrawal transactions and other account servicing requests. They must also understand, utilize, and follow compliance/risk and control programs, and be knowledgeable of and comply with the TD Code of Conduct.

As a member of the TD team, the banking associate is expected to contribute to a positive work environment, be an active participant in personal performance and development activities, and collaborate with team members in contributing to the success of the team and organization.

Physical Requirements

The banking associate role involves performing multiple tasks, operating standard office equipment, responding quickly to sounds, and applying common sense to deal with problems involving standardized situations. The role may also involve occasional domestic travel.
