The Role of a Sales and Service Representative at First Citizens Bank

As a Sales and Service Representative, your primary responsibility will be processing transactions and handling other customer service requests in the branch. However, your role extends beyond these basic duties. You will act as a bridge between the bank and its customers, helping them to understand the bank’s capabilities, tools, and resources.

Moreover, you will play a supportive role in the sales efforts of the branch team by identifying and referring sales opportunities to the appropriate bank partner. This role requires a blend of excellent communication skills, a customer-centric attitude, sales acumen, adaptability, teamwork, and flexibility.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a range of skills. These include:

  • Communication Skills – Interpersonal: You should be comfortable and confident with initiating and engaging in conversation.
  • Customer Service Skills: It is crucial to demonstrate professionalism and empathy in every interaction with customers.
  • Sales Skills: The ability to support the team by making client servicing calls, identifying client needs, and referring them to the appropriate branch team members or specialist.

  • Teamwork: A successful candidate will strive to build strong working relationships with team members and cross-functional relationships.

Responsibilities of the Sales and Service Representative

The Sales and Service Representative is tasked with several responsibilities, which include but are not limited to:

  • Engaging customers in conversation to understand their banking needs and preferences.
  • Processing transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Providing assistance with account servicing needs.
  • Facilitating customer awareness and education of bank services, including digital banking capabilities.
  • Introducing customers to other branch team members or bank partners who can provide solutions for their financial needs.

Qualifications for the Role

To qualify for this role, you must have a High School Diploma or GED and at least 6 months of customer service experience. However, we prefer candidates who have financial literacy, knowledge of retail banking products and services, previous sales experience, and previous banking experience.

For hires in California, the base pay for this position ranges between $22.35 – $30.24 per hour. The exact starting pay will be determined based on factors such as skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
