A Bank Operations Quality Assurance Analyst’s job responsibilities are multifaceted. Their primary task is to conduct thorough quality assurance reviews of all bank transactions. This is to ensure that these transactions are accurate and comply with the bank’s internal policies and procedures. They also screen daily wire transfer data meticulously to guarantee there are no violations of the Travel Rule or issues with nested third-party transactions.

Another significant aspect of their role is to identify and document discrepancies or errors in transactional processes. This includes issues related to various regulations such as Travel Rule, REG E, UCC 4A, NACHA, REG J, REG CC, and Compliance. The analyst is also responsible for preparing comprehensive reports on Quality Control findings, compliance status, and any related issues. These reports are presented to the management for informed decision-making.

They also recommend and implement enhancements to processes and compliance controls to improve efficiency and reduce error rates. Moreover, they work closely with compliance, operations, and legal teams to address complex issues and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Also, part of their responsibility is to assist in training and guiding team members on regulations and Quality Control best practices. They also perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

The role of a Bank Operations Quality Assurance Analyst requires a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a bank operations or quality control role within a financial institution. This experience should ideally be focused on BSA/AML/Fraud/OFAC/Recon per regulatory requirements. They should have a strong understanding of wire processing, ACH processing, Travel Rule regulations, and financial crime prevention.

While a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, it is not mandatory. What is most important is a combination of relevant experience and in-depth knowledge of banking operations and regulations.

Key Competencies

A Bank Operations Quality Assurance Analyst must possess exceptional analytical skills with a strong focus on accuracy and thoroughness in transaction reviews. They should have excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting and collaboration with team members.
