The Role of a Bank Loan Assistant
The Bank Loan Assistant position is crucial to assisting Availa Bank’s lending and operations areas, as well as their customers, based on a comprehensive understanding of Commercial and Agricultural loans. The role involves assisting Loan Officers with loan workflow management, ensuring timelines are met and adjusted appropriately. The Bank Loan Assistant coordinates with internal and external parties involved in the loan process to gather information and ensure all pre-closing steps and documents have been obtained and completed.
Note: This is not a remote position. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.

Responsibilities of a Bank Loan Assistant
The Bank Loan Assistant is expected to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. They handle communication by phone, email, and in person with employees, loan customers, businesses, and vendors related to the loan process. They are also responsible for reviewing, articulating, and understanding multiple variables to request proper loan documentation, maintaining physical and electronic customer files, and functioning as a point of contact for other internal departments during the loan process.
Furthermore, the Bank Loan Assistant is expected to identify and communicate workflow system inefficiencies or opportunities for improvement, enter customer information into the bank’s loan workflow system with specific attention to data integrity, and review loan approvals to address all conditions for closing. They maintain loan file compliance while managing their own pipeline during various levels of volume and perform a variety of clerical duties requiring knowledge of departmental procedures.
Qualifications for the Bank Loan Assistant Position
The minimum educational requirement for the Bank Loan Assistant position is a high school diploma or equivalent. Ideally, candidates should have 1-3 years of experience in a banking or lending environment.
Additionally, prospective candidates should possess working knowledge of loan policies, procedures, and bank products. Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary, as is proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
Exceptional organizational and time management skills are crucial for this role, along with the ability to function well in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should possess strong attention to detail and have the capacity to interact with internal and external teams, customers, and businesses with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality. Knowledge of lending and imaging software is a plus, as are strong math skills.
