Scotiabank is inviting applications for the role of Associate Director | Director in the Mortgage Capital Markets team, specifically dealing with Residential Securitization Banking. Role Overview

As a pivotal member of the Mortgage Capital Markets team in the United States, the successful candidate will be responsible for executing and delivering individual goals, plans, and initiatives in alignment with the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensuring adherence to governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures is a crucial aspect of this role.

The incumbent will work closely with the Head of Residential Securitization Banking to manage RMBS activity in the origination, securitization, trading, and distribution of the RMBS product globally. The group focuses on U.S. residential mortgage participants, including originators, aggregators, servicers, REITS, asset managers, and investors.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to champion a customer-focused culture, deepen client relationships, and leverage the broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. They are also expected to foster new and existing client relationships and cross-sell existing relationships across other areas and product groups.

The role involves spearheading term RMBS lead role engagements by collaborating with issuers, deal counsels, rating agencies, third-party service providers, syndicate, and sales teams to execute transactions. The candidate will also be responsible for sourcing new mandates, leading the transaction execution process, and coordinating various activities with the middle-office and operations teams, including closing transactions.

Qualifications and Skills

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Business or a related field. A CFA, MBA, or another industry designation is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of mortgage financing fundamentals, with experience across asset classes including Agency, Prime Jumbo, Non-QM/DSCR, Second Lien, Seasoned, Residential Transition Loans, Credit Risk Transfer is essential.

Prior experience in mortgage capital markets or mortgage warehouse financing is strongly preferred. The candidate should possess excellent computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, Intex) proficiencies and superb written and oral communication skills. A high level of attention to detail, familiarity with legal document review, and a high level of commitment, collaboration, and a strong sense of teamwork are critical to succeed in this role.
