Leadership is a critical aspect of the Assistant Manager’s role. They are responsible for assessing and coaching the branch team in conjunction with the Banking Center Manager. This involves providing constructive feedback to increase overall effectiveness and ensure accountability. Regular coaching sessions are a fundamental part of this process.

The Assistant Manager is also the primary liaison for complex, escalated situations. They play a crucial role in talent management, which includes succession planning, attracting and retaining top talent, and continuously developing a strong bench strength.

Working with staff to foster true needs-based customer conversations through Relationship Builder coaching and observations is a part of their mandate. Assistant Managers also develop and maintain a mature Center of Influence (COI) base of community and business leaders, leveraging them to gain additional business through referrals.

They are also responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships with internal line of business leaders, compiling data, and preparing various branch reports and other management reports as assigned. They balance business needs with customer requests while managing potential risk to the bank.

Operations: Ensuring Compliance and Ethical Practices

In the realm of operations, the Assistant Manager partners with the BSA to ensure branch adherence to AML/BSA requirements, operational procedures, audit procedures, dual control, security, Business Continuity, and all other regulated banking requirements. They communicate any updates to associates, ensuring that the branch operates within the confines of the law.

They also ensure that all safety and security procedures are followed and serve as the primary branch security contact and business continuity leader. Their responsibilities extend to functioning in any capacity within the branch as needed, including Teller, Client Advisor, and Branch Support Coordinator roles.

Assistant Managers are also responsible for assisting customers with notary, signature guarantee, and medallion. They adhere to Seacoast Bank’s Code of Conduct, ensuring ethical sales behaviors in accordance with the Associate Code of Conduct and Sales Practices Policy.

Business Development and Credit Acumen

The Assistant Manager is also a business developer with a knack for sourcing Treasury Management solutions and services and small business lending needs. They must have a comprehensive understanding of all consumer products and services, with a strong emphasis on consumer lending.

This role requires an extensive knowledge of small business deposit and a working knowledge of lending products and services. They are responsible for maintaining an active NMLS registration status. Their responsibilities also extend to demonstrating excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, and having a proficiency in PC usage in Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, and Smartphone devices, as well as Microsoft Office Suite software.

This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a college degree or 5+ years in retail sales and/or financial services experience. Previous supervisory experience and business development experience are preferred.
