The Role of Sales Assistant in Ag Banking
The Sales Assistant plays a crucial role in our Ag Banking team, effectively assisting a team of bankers in managing client relationships and maintaining files and relationships in accordance with bank policy and regulatory requirements. The Sales Assistant’s duties are varied and challenging, offering the chance to gain comprehensive knowledge of the banking industry and build strong, lasting relationships with our clients.
Key Responsibilities
The Sales Assistant’s responsibilities include assisting lead officers with annual financial requests from borrowers and preparing all financial input as assigned by the banker. This role demands a thorough understanding of client files and accounts to provide effective customer service alongside the lead banker. The Sales Assistant also plays a vital part in strengthening, maintaining, and expanding client relationships through professional support for the Region President and Commercial Bankers.
Additionally, the Sales Assistant takes an active role in the full Credit Approval Process. This includes gathering, compiling, and submitting all documentation required by the Credit Analyst Department to process initial loan applications and spread financial information. A full understanding of loan packet preparation is necessary, including completing the Credit Presentation Checklist, Loan Officer Comments, and compiling the full loan packet.
Finally, the Sales Assistant is expected to make calls to existing and prospective clients as part of ongoing business development. This may include conducting collateral inspections on selected clients under the direction and supervision of the lead banker. The Sales Assistant also assists the Commercial Senior Banker with administrative and clerical functions.
