What to Expect from the Internship Program

First Citizens Bank’s summer internship program is more than just a job – it’s a learning experience that prepares you for your future career. The internship program is designed to apply your classroom knowledge to the corporate environment, positively impacting the organization and the communities served by the bank.

Throughout the program, you will be part of a dynamic team, working on interesting projects. Your responsibilities can range from research, analytics, and project management, to strategy formation, process review and improvement, and technological enhancements and support.

Professional Development and Networking

One of the program’s unique features is its professional development sessions. These sessions, along with other informational talks, give you a chance to expand your knowledge and skills. Networking and community service events are also an integral part of the program, allowing you to build valuable connections and contribute to the community.

Guidance and Project Work

Throughout the duration of the internship, you will have a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate the bank and the program. You will also be assigned a project, aiming to improve a specific process or solve an issue. This project will be presented at the end of the internship. In addition, you will prepare a wrap-up presentation to share with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company, outlining your accomplishments and experiences during the program.

Qualifications and Benefits

Eligibility for this program requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of experience. Applicants must also be currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution during the time of the summer program and able to work 40 hours per week throughout the program.

Preferred qualifications include a minimum GPA of 3.0, a strong desire to learn and grow, a positive attitude, a natural curiosity, and good collaboration skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking skills, ability to multitask, adapt and adjust priorities based on business needs, and quick absorption of information are also desirable.

First Citizens Bank values its associates’ contribution, offering a competitive, thoughtfully designed, and quality benefits program. The base pay for this position generally ranges between $18.00/hr and $22.00/hr, with actual starting base pay determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Some roles may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
