A Visionary Leader for Vanguard’s Cash and Savings Strategy

This senior leadership role will serve as the strategic architect for rate design and bank network optimization, ensuring Vanguard’s offerings are competitive, resilient, and mission-aligned.
The chosen leader will play a significant part in influencing cross-functional decision-making, driving enterprise alignment, and leading a high-impact team responsible for pricing strategy, bank partnerships, and governance. This role is crucial in scaling Vanguard’s capabilities and delivering outcomes that extend the Vanguard Effect across the full client portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
The new leader will define and champion the long-term strategy for rate and bank network management across the Cash & Savings portfolio. Serving as a thought partner to senior leaders in Finance, Risk, Legal, and Vanguard Client Segments, the role will align pricing and capacity decisions with enterprise goals, leading strategic planning and transformation initiatives. These initiatives will position Vanguard as a market leader in cash solutions.
Rate Strategy & Pricing Governance
Another critical aspect of this role is the architecture of rate structures that drive client value, competitive differentiation, and financial sustainability. The leader will explore new and innovative pricing strategies, lead pricing forums and governance routines for transparency, agility, and alignment. They will also monitor macroeconomic trends, competitor movements, and client behaviors to inform strategic pivots and day-to-day pricing execution decisions.
Bank Network Optimization
The successful candidate will oversee the design and evolution of Vanguard’s program bank network. This includes dual supplier resiliency, capacity planning, and onboarding strategy. The leader will also negotiate and manage strategic partnerships with banks, custodians, and network providers, ensuring operational excellence and risk-smart execution across all bank-related processes.
Enterprise Influence & Enablement
Representing Cash & Savings in enterprise forums, steering committees, and strategic reviews, the leader will collaborate with enablement teams to ensure scalable delivery, crew readiness, and client experience alignment. They will also drive cross-functional integration with Advice & Wealth Management Segments, Workplace, Personal Investor, and Institutional teams.
Qualifications
Interested candidates should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in financial services managing a strategic pricing function, ideally with direct accountability for setting deposit rates. An undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required, although a graduate degree or PhD is preferred.
Key qualifications include a proven track record of leading enterprise-level initiatives and influencing senior stakeholders, a deep understanding of banking infrastructure, vendor management, and deposit products, exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and leadership skills. Experience with governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, and financial forecasting is also desirable.
