Job Responsibilities
As a Treasury Management Officer in Commercial Banking, your responsibilities are diverse and require a high level of expertise. Growing revenue by successfully prospecting and sourcing new treasury management business is a major task. This is achieved while retaining and expanding existing customer relationships. You are also required to create strategic dialogues around key client-centric issues, incorporating best practices, industry benchmarking, opportunity quantification, and solution positioning.
Additionally, the officer is expected to collaborate with bankers and clients at senior and strategic levels to provide integrated treasury solutions proactively. They independently lead business process reviews aligned to key client sales opportunities, and engage industry solutions specialist for complex client business process reviews. The job also involves raising new solution ideas while partnering with internal product stakeholders, to represent the client perspective in the development and evolution of complex products and solutions.
Furthermore, a Treasury Management Officer is expected to deliver thought leadership to the market, prospects, and clients on the working capital solutions at client roundtables, industry conferences, webinars, and professional media platforms. They also manage the non-credit risk for the customer portfolio, monitor, and enhance profitability of all assigned relationships.
Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
A successful Treasury Management Officer in Commercial Banking needs a certain set of skills and qualifications. Besides having a minimum of 6 years of cash management, sales, and relationship management experience, they also need to demonstrate success in developing new business. This requires a focus on prospecting utilizing strong selling and negotiation skills, along with a solid understanding of Treasury Service products, credit and risk process, overdraft management discipline, and pricing philosophy.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are also a must. They should have the ability to develop strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, external centers of influence (COI), and external consulting organizations. Other necessary skills include strong time management, organizational, and planning skills. Demonstrated experience of meeting or exceeding sales goals and being a top individual contributor is also key.
Preferred qualifications include having a bachelor’s degree, a Certified Treasury Professional designation, and strong creative solution and problem-solving abilities.
