Job Description: Head of Government Banking
The Head of Government Banking is a leadership role that involves overseeing business development, portfolio growth, deposit acquisition, treasury management penetration, and overall relationship expansion within the government and municipal segments. In addition to these responsibilities, the candidate is also expected to identify and bring in traditional business banking relationships, extending reach beyond the public sector.
Duties & Responsibilities
The role is laden with a variety of responsibilities aimed at growing the bank’s government banking portfolio in line with individual and bank annual deposit goals. The Head of Government Banking is expected to maintain open communication with various bank leaders, adhere to regulations, respond to public sector RFPs, and cross-sell various bank services. Additionally, the role involves managing and deepening existing public sector relationships, coordinating onboarding processes, and supporting the Retail Team as needed. The candidate is also expected to attend internal management meetings, maintain a monthly pipeline using Salesforce, and offer suggestions for successful implementation of new changes in products, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
First Bank is looking for a candidate with a bachelor’s degree or a minimum of 15 years of experience in government banking management. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills, organizational development skills, a high standard of attention to detail, problem-solving and decision-making skills, negotiation and persuasion skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office skills like Word, Outlook, and Excel.
