The Role of Senior Software Engineer, Banking Network Team
Adyen’s Banking Network team is vital to its financial services offering. They build a robust and performant platform that communicates directly with central banking payment systems like FedNow and RTP in the U.S., and global systems like PIX in Brazil and FPS in the UK. Their job is to manage the complexity of global banking payments and create modern solutions that allow for easy access for Adyen’s merchants.
Responsibilities
- Working on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing, and launching into production.
- Bringing a unique perspective on best engineering practices.
- Hands-on contribution to the implementation process.
- Identifying and improving platform aspects to enhance its robustness and scalability.
- Building APIs and tooling while considering quality principles such as performance and code quality.
- Collaborating across teams and time zones to bring projects to completion.
Who You Should Be
- An engineer with an ownership mentality, not just a coder.
- Experienced with Java, Web Services, REST APIs, Webhooks, and SQL/PostgreSQL.
- Knowledgeable about Software Engineering practices and keen on product knowledge.
- Familiar with complex, large-scale distributed systems.
- Valuing different perspectives and involving others in decision-making processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 8 years of experience in the software development industry.
- Full professional proficiency in English.
- Willingness to be based in the Chicago office, as Adyen values in-person collaboration and does not offer remote-only roles.
The annual base salary for this role ranges from $180,000 to $243,000.
