First Merchants Bank, a renowned financial institution in the United States, is on the lookout for a competent Banking Center Manager. This strategic position involves managing and leading the banking center staff, developing and executing sales plans, and ensuring the operational soundness of the banking center. The new manager will play a crucial role in shaping the future success of the banking center while ensuring compliance with all operational requirements.
Role Responsibilities
The Banking Center Manager will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities including:
- Overseeing and inspecting all operations and compliance of the banking center.
- Developing and implementing an aggressive sales and marketing strategy to drive deposit, loan, and partner referrals with both new and existing client relationships.
- Ensuring the banking center team and partners deliver upon the Gold Standard for Service expectations.
- Creating and fostering a robust employee experience within the banking center.
Developing and Implementing Sales and Marketing Strategy
One of the core duties of the Banking Center Manager is to develop and implement a comprehensive sales and marketing strategy. This strategy should aim to drive deposit, loan, and partner referrals with new and existing client relationships. Regular outside sales calls are expected to nurture and grow established relationships and increase the banking center’s market share. The manager will also market all types of business and consumer banking functions, including deposits, lending, private wealth, brokerage, merchant processing, treasury management, and more.
Ensuring Gold Standard for Service
The Banking Center Manager will also ensure that the banking center team and partners adhere to the Gold Standard for Service expectations. This involves promoting an understanding of business deposit and lending products, expanding relationships with new and existing clients, opening accounts, processing loan applications, and resolving customer inquiries, problems, and complaints proactively. The manager will use service-to-sales techniques to provide solutions to customers’ current financial needs.
Fostering a Robust Employee Experience
The Banking Center Manager will play a crucial role in creating and fostering a positive employee experience within the banking center. The manager will implement effective sales management routines designed to coach, teach, train, and inspect sales activities within the banking center. The manager will conduct weekly sales and pipeline meetings, daily huddles, and touch bases with direct reports. Also, the manager will regularly conduct formal and informal coaching conversations focusing on sales and service behavioral observation and the associated production from those behaviors.
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this position, the following are required:
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- A minimum of three (3) years of sales, management, banking, or related experience including serving in a lead or supervisory capacity.
- This position requires S.A.F.E Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). Employees hired or transferring into this position will need to meet the qualification requirements within three (3) months of hire.
- Obtaining a Notary Public designation.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications would be a plus:
- Demonstrated ability to sell and cross-sell bank products and services.
- Consumer lending experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a sales team to achieve threshold activity levels and performance goals.
- A Bachelor’s degree.
