Job Summary: Business Banking Relationship Manager
A Business Banking Relationship Manager at Oxford Bank plays a pivotal role in creating value for Business Banking and Treasury Management relationships. The position is a blend of sales and management responsibilities. The Role also involves promoting other products and services provided by Oxford Bank.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Business Banking Relationship Manager, you will develop and manage an existing Business Banking portfolio. You will manage the customer’s relationship around profitability and portfolio risk while ensuring profitable growth of the assigned portfolio. In addition, you will focus on expanding the Business Banking portfolio by targeting new businesses.
Furthermore, you will build and maintain an external referral base and maintain a visible market presence to attract new Business Banking relationships. As part of your role, you will meet with business owners to build strong relationships, identify needs, and recommend product solutions. You will also collaborate with Personal Banking to create and deliver customer solutions and partner with Loan Fulfillment to ensure accuracy and completeness of credit packages according to policy.
How You’ll Spend Your Time
As a Business Banking Relationship Manager, you will be a resource for a team of Business Bankers in areas such as marketing, new business development, loan analysis, and servicing. You’ll participate in community and professional activities to enhance Oxford Bank’s image and expand your network of business contacts for the development of new businesses.
You’ll also partner with Credit & Loan Processing on the approval, documentation, and booking processes. This will include analyzing and evaluating credit requests, writing loan commitments, recommending appropriate risk rating, and issuing declinations. Further, you’ll provide input to leadership regarding negotiation of loan proposals, analysis of credit requests, and prepare loan commitments. You’ll also recommend appropriate credit grades, make oral presentations to the loan committee, and provide back-up support to team members with loan committee presentations.
Qualification and Skills
The ideal candidate for this role should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a high level of professionalism, and experience using Microsoft Office products. Demonstrated negotiation skills, knowledge of business deposit products and services, and a thorough understanding of the current banking industry are essential. You should work well within a team environment and collaborate closely with internal partners to deliver customer solutions. Experience with mentoring and coaching team members is also a plus.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree is a mandatory requirement for this position, along with formal credit training. Candidates must have at least 2-3 years’ experience managing business relationships.
This position will comply with all BSA compliance laws and regulations, including the Bank’s BSA policy and procedures.
As a Business Banking Relationship Manager, you will report to the Business Banking Group Manager. This is a full-time, exempt position without supervisory duties. Travel may be required.
