Key Responsibilities of a Banking Associate
The Banking Associate performs a broad range of tasks in multiple areas within a store location. These tasks include processing customer transactions, opening new accounts, and educating customers about all banking products and services. The associate delivers end-to-end advice customers expect: building trust with educational content & tools, providing consultative support, and advocating with proactive insights & recommendations. The associate also uses TD’s systems and tools to engage with customers and deepen relationships by providing guidance and advice to attract and retain the customer.
Understanding Customer Financial Needs
An important aspect of the Banking Associate’s role is understanding customer financial needs. This understanding helps in identifying opportunities to promote and educate customers on products, services, and referring them to the appropriate team member or internal Bank partner, ensuring a positive customer experience.
Education & Experience Requirements for a Banking Associate
The basic educational requirement for the role is a high school diploma or GED. One year of experience working with customers in any capacity is preferred. This experience can be demonstrated through volunteering, education, or military experience. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, effective problem-solving skills, and have a strong ability to schedule and prioritize work. Teller experience and Notary License are also preferred.
Fulfilling Customer and Shareholder Accountabilities
The Banking Associate consistently provides legendary customer service while transacting, promoting, educating, and referring TD Products to new and existing customers. The associate is also responsible for ensuring compliance when completing operational activities in accordance with company guidelines and regulations such as Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act to minimize risk and protect the customer.

The Banking Associate also plays a role in team development and contributes to a positive work environment. The associate must be able to perform multiple tasks and operate standard office equipment. The job also includes occasional domestic travel and requires the ability to perform sedentary work frequently.
