Cross-training and Leadership Roles
Customer Solutions Assistant Branch Managers are cross-trained to handle operational, customer service, and consumer and business product/service tasks efficiently and effectively. This ensures they are well-equipped to serve customers in a holistic manner. Additionally, they serve in a leadership role and are considered experts in the areas of small business, technology, and residential lending. This expertise enables them to guide customers and fellow staff members in these areas.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
The primary function of a Customer Solutions Assistant Manager is to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers. This involves proactively engaging with customers inside and outside of the branch, informing and educating through various experiences, and assisting with branch events and initiatives.
Engagement with the Community
The role also involves proactive engagement with the community through networking events, branch coordinated events/initiatives, and community education. The Assistant Manager is responsible for making business development calls to area businesses and referring commercial loans and cash management services to business partners.
Product Knowledge and Customized Solutions
The Assistant Manager maintains expert knowledge of the Bank’s products and services and actively engages with customers in determining their needs and goals. They are responsible for recommending and creating customized solutions, and for opening and processing all types of consumer and business deposit accounts.
Loan Application, Processing, and Closing
Another critical aspect of their role is to interview loan applicants objectively, recommend appropriate loans based on the applicants’ needs and their ability to repay, and follow loans from application to closing efficiently and accurately.
Performance Monitoring and Evaluation
In conjunction with the Customer Solutions Manager, the Assistant Manager will assist with monitoring and evaluating performance, providing feedback to enhance customer sales and service efforts, and providing input for performance reviews, training milestones, and promotional recommendations.
Vault Transactions and Security
The Assistant Manager also performs vault transactions, orders and ships cash, and ensures the security of various systems and cash storage. This includes maintaining building keys, security and vault combinations, and serving in an on-call capacity for ATM and alarm systems.
Regulatory Compliance
Lastly, the Assistant Manager is responsible for adhering to bank policies and procedures related to regulatory compliance requirements applicable to their job function.
Position Requirements
The position requires an Associate’s degree or equivalent, and at least three years of cash handling, customer service, lending, supervisory, and problem-solving experience. Successful completion of small business, technology, leadership, and residential lending training milestones is also required. They should also have effective customer service, verbal & written communication, math, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint software applications is also essential.
In compliance with the federal Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act) and various state banking laws, MLOs at Chelsea Groton Bank must satisfy certain professional state-licensing requirements prior to engaging in loan origination activities on behalf of Chelsea Groton Bank.
Supervisory Scope and Independent Action
The supervisory scope of this role is limited, and the Assistant Manager performs work within established guidelines and according to specific procedures, referring problems to the immediate supervisor as necessary.
Compliance
Finally, the Assistant Manager is responsible for adhering to Bank policies and procedures relating to regulatory compliance requirements applicable to the job function including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, and Fair Lending.
