Roles and Responsibilities of a Business Banking Relationship Manager at BMO
The Business Banking Relationship Manager is responsible for nurturing, building, and managing relationships with a portfolio of small business clients. The role involves applying professional consultative sales and business development practices and techniques within a designated jurisdiction/portfolio. The manager is also expected to identify opportunities and refer them to appropriate BMO colleagues.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing sales strategies to attract new business clients and expand existing relationships, generating appointments and opportunities to grow business results through targeted sales efforts, and creating an effective business plan that includes relationship management strategies to achieve customer retention objectives.
The manager is expected to resolve or escalate issues, provide advice and guidance to the assigned business/group on the implementation of solutions, and understand customer needs to offer financial solutions that meet their goals. Other responsibilities involve maintaining the confidentiality of customer and Bank information in compliance with Bank policies and procedures, and identifying risks and taking appropriate actions to maintain operational integrity.
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants are expected to have 4-6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong financial analysis skills, a deep understanding of business banking products, lending processes and loan documentation, and supporting policies, procedures, and technologies are crucial. Experience with customer sales and service is also required.
Applicants must have strong verbal and written communication skills, collaboration and team skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, influence skills, and data-driven decision-making skills. Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience is also necessary.
Salary and Compensation
The salary range is between $57,500.00 – $106,500.00 on a salaried pay type. BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package may vary based on pay type and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks and rewards.
