Capital One is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join their Retail Bank Agile Controllers Team as an Accounting Manager. This key role involves steering high-priority projects in line with the company’s strategic vision, requiring you to multitask, meet deadlines, and operate in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
Role and Responsibilities
As an Accounting Manager, your role will be multi-faceted. You will be responsible for various projects, right from the planning and prioritization phase through to delivery and stabilization. You’ll be the main point of contact for these projects, taking charge of their development, testing, and implementation.
Additionally, your problem-solving and influential skills will be vital in ensuring that project plans deliver on their intended outcomes. You’ll review the progress of your team and address any issues that crop up during projects, providing guidance and support to ensure their timely delivery.
Your role will also involve contributing to process improvement through project development and knowledge sharing. This will require you to build and maintain relationships with local teams and collaborate with multiple teams across the organization on various corporate initiatives.
Excellent communication and partnership skills are a must for this position, as you’ll need to interact and communicate with key stakeholders at all levels across the company to manage, inform, and influence outcomes. Additionally, you’ll need to facilitate the consistent use of the Agile methodology for delivering projects, present results, findings, risks, and recommendations to Agile Team leadership and Global Finance stakeholders, and display a passion for coaching and developing a team of associates.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you need a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent military experience. You also need a minimum of 5 years of experience in Accounting, External Financial Reporting, Audit, Finance, or a combination thereof.
Preferred qualifications include a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, and at least one year of experience in People Management, Agile Project Management, using Jira, Product Management, and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Reconciliation System.

Salary and Benefits
The full-time annual salary for this role varies by location. In McLean, VA, the salary range is $151,900 – $173,400. In Richmond, VA and Wilmington, DE, the salary range is $138,100 – $157,700. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
