The Global Family & Private Investment Offices Team (GFO)
Within the Wealth Management division of Northern Trust lies the Global Family & Private Investment Offices team (GFO). The team is a sales and client servicing group, specifically dedicated to supporting ultra-high net worth individuals and families with investable assets exceeding $200m, their charities, and foundations. With a mixed wealth nature that incorporates multi-generational inherited wealth and new entrepreneurial wealth, the clients often require a broad range of products and services from Northern Trust. This includes asset servicing (custody), fiduciary, fund administration, investment management, and banking/credit.
Job Role: The Account Manager
The role of an Account Manager at Northern Trust is multifaceted. This individual is responsible for coordinating banking, custody, fiduciary, and investment administration for Wealth Management clients. They serve as the main liaison for the client service team, working in conjunction with key partner areas to support client requirements. The Account Manager is also tasked with identifying service efficiencies and process improvements, using creative and proactive measures.
Banking Support
As part of the banking support, the Account Manager works with bankers, relationship managers, and account managers to support daily client banking needs. This covers all banking products and services, including complex loan pricing, loan borrowings, loan payments, and requests for funds under established lines of credit. The Account Manager also assists with creating and implementing complex banking structures and ensures accurate setup of various types of client accounts and services.
Custody Support
On the custody support front, the Account Manager coordinates the account administration, focusing on asset servicing, trust administration, banking, and investment manager or consultant activities. They work with relationship managers to ensure appropriate and necessary documentation is received and maintained. Furthermore, they work with relationship managers in developing and identifying additional business, preparing for client meetings, and coordinating the service team.
