Mercury: Pioneering the Next Generation of Financial Software
In 1967, a revolution occurred in banking that forever altered the way customers interact with their money. The invention of the ATM decoupled the bank from the banker, allowing users to access their money without needing permission from a human. Since then, every decade has brought another layer of abstraction to the banking industry. Online banking removed the need for physical branches, mobile banking eliminated the need for a desktop computer, and now AI is removing the interface entirely. Today, the next generation of financial software is being built not as apps that people log into, but as agents, automations, and workflows that directly access financial infrastructure.
This is the world that Mercury, a fintech company, is gearing towards. With its API products such as CLI and MCP, Mercury is integrating itself into the fabric of various applications being built, thereby redefining the way developers create financial software. However, Mercury’s vision extends beyond just creating products. The company is seeking a Product Marketing Manager who can help share the story of API and AI banking, and foster adoption among new and existing customers.
What the Role Entails
The Product Marketing Manager at Mercury will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are crucial to the company’s success. These responsibilities include owning the Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy for Mercury’s platform products, building Mercury’s presence in the developer and AI-builder ecosystem, developing deep customer and market insights, designing and executing multi-channel marketing programs, championing the voice of developers and AI builders across the organization, measuring, analyzing, and optimizing performance, and being a driving force in the AI marketing strategy for Mercury.
Required Skills and Experience
Mercury is looking for candidates who have over eight years of B2B product marketing experience, with at least two years focused on developer products, APIs, or AI platforms. The candidate should have demonstrated GTM ownership and should have genuine fluency or interest in the current AI and agentic tooling market. The candidate should also have hands-on experience with developer marketing channels and be able to translate complex technical concepts into clean, compelling narratives. Strong cross-functional instincts are a must.
Nice-to-have Skills
While not strictly required, experience in fintech, the ability to read and write technical/API documentation, and experience with data analysis, especially SQL, are seen as beneficial for the role.
Compensation and Benefits
The total rewards package at Mercury is highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry. The package includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits. Salary and equity ranges are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for the industry. The target new hire base salary ranges for the role depend on the applicant’s location.
