What Will You Do as a Sr. Software Engineer, Backend (Bank Tech)?

As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will collaborate with Agile teams across the board to design, develop, test, implement, and provide technical support to solutions using full-stack development tools and technologies. You will also share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, learning new technologies, participating in internal and external tech communities, and mentoring other engineers.

Moreover, your collaboration with digital product managers will drive robust, cloud-based solutions that help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment. Using programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala, Open Source RDBMS, NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, and various AWS tools and services, you will deliver top-notch backend solutions.

What are the Qualifications and Experiences Required?

For this role, Capital One has set a few basic and preferred qualifications. A Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of professional software engineering experience are the basic prerequisites. However, Capital One prefers candidates with over five years of experience in Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js, and at least one year of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service. Furthermore, three years of experience in open source frameworks and two years of experience in Agile practices will give you an edge over others.

Remuneration and Benefits

Capital One is known for its comprehensive, competitive, and inclusive set of health, financial, and other benefits that support your overall well-being. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are $161,800 and $184,600, respectively, for McLean, VA. The pay range may vary based on the location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

Moreover, this role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI). The incentives could be discretionary or non-discretionary, depending on the plan.
