Job Description and Responsibilities

The Banking Associate plays a key role in delivering TD’s brand promise at a store location. This role requires accurately completing everyday banking transactions and providing educational support on services, products, and tools to help customers achieve their financial goals. The role is part of TD’s Personal & Commercial Banking line of business.

A Banking Associate performs a myriad of tasks across multiple areas within a store location, including processing customer transactions, opening new accounts, and educating customers on banking products and services. The Banking Associate is also responsible for delivering end-to-end advice to customers, building trust with educational content and tools, providing consultative support, proactively offering insights and recommendations, and nurturing customer relationships.

Education and Experience

Candidates for the Banking Associate role must have a high school diploma or GED and preferably a year of customer service experience. This experience could be demonstrated through volunteering, education, or military service. The role requires excellent communication skills, proven problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. A Notary License is preferred but not mandatory.

Customer and Shareholder Accountabilities

The Banking Associate consistently provides legendary customer service while promoting and referring TD Products to new and existing customers. They manage customer wait times, engage in lobby leadership, understand and support the bank’s customer service strategy, and drive referrals to support the broader, more complex financial needs of customers.

On the shareholder side, the Banking Associate ensures compliance when completing operational activities in accordance with company guidelines and regulations to minimize risk and protect the customer. It involves accurately processing cash/deposit/withdrawal transactions, opening/closing, servicing accounts, and adhering to required controls, critical dates, and accurate documents.

Physical Requirements

The role requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking, and occasional lifting/carrying of both under and over 25 lbs. It also involves performing multiple tasks, operating standard office equipment, and applying common sense to deal with problems involving standardized situations.
