Recognizing the Industry’s Top Young Producers

It’s that time of year again to celebrate the achievements of Financial Planning’s Top 40 Brokers Under 40. This annual ranking highlights the exceptional talent and success of young producers at wirehouses and regional firms within the financial industry.

This year’s list showcases the impressive performance of these brokers, with a total annual revenue of just over $226 million. Compared to the previous year, this represents a significant increase of nearly 9% from the $207.8 million generated by the 2025 cohort.

On average, the advisors on the 2026 top 40 list generate $5.65 million annually, up from $5.2 million in 2025. However, it is important to note that there is a wide range in production levels among the brokers. The top broker for 2026, who has held the position for the third consecutive year, produces an outstanding $14.5 million on his own.

Collectively, the 2026 cohort oversees a substantial $48.6 billion in client assets, reflecting a notable increase from $41.5 billion the previous year.

The Top Performers and Firms

The financial advisors featured on this year’s list represent six different firms: Janney Montgomery Scott, JPMorgan, Merrill, Morgan Stanley, Raymond James, and UBS. Merrill Wealth Management and Merrill Private Wealth Management continue to dominate the rankings, with a total of 24 brokers from these divisions. Morgan Stanley follows closely behind with six brokers in the group.

The Methodology Behind the Rankings

It is important to note the methodology used for determining the rankings. Nominees for the list were required to be age 39 or younger by December 31, 2025, and registered with a wealth management firm in the employee channel. Production totals were verified by each broker’s employer to ensure accuracy. The reported trailing 12-month production and AUM were as of September 31, 2025.
