Chase, a leading financial services firm in America, is seeking an Executive Director for its Consumer & Community Bank Corporate Development team, specifically focusing on luxury and dining business development. This role is not just about leading a team, but also about strategic analysis, commercial deal negotiation, and leading through change.

Importance of the Role

The role of the Executive Director is of great significance as it involves taking charge of the travel, dining, and airport lounge categories, along with the high net worth (HNW) customer segment. The key responsibility of the position is to lead the team in expanding and evolving the firm’s HNW partnership and engagement strategies. The role also encompasses premium dining and hospitality experiences.

Working in a dynamic environment, the executive director will need to multitask, combining strategy, project management, stakeholder management, and negotiations among other skills. The role is at the core of the Chase’s Corporate Development team which is responsible for all business development and strategic partnerships across the firm’s Consumer & Community Banking lines of businesses.

Job Responsibilities

The Executive Director will be expected to undertake a range of important duties. These duties include leading the evaluation, negotiation, and execution of business development and strategic partnerships focused on the HNW and dining/hospitality segments. They will serve as a trusted thought leader and valued counsel to executive business owners responsible for these lines of business.

Other key responsibilities include cultivating and building external relationships, fostering strategic partnerships, leading a high-performing team, managing relationships with cross-functional partners, and keeping a lookout for competitive developments and potential partnership opportunities in the external environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The role demands strong written and verbal communication skills and a robust financial acumen. The ideal candidate will have a deep experience in negotiating long-term, complex commercial deals, and the ability to influence at senior levels externally and navigate matrixed organizations.

Prior leadership experience and comfort managing teams within unstructured environments are also essential. To be considered for the role, candidates must have at least 10 years of prior business development or partnership leadership experience.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

While the above qualifications are a must, there are additional skills and qualifications that can add value to the role. Chase prefers candidates with prior premium Card experience or luxury experience. An MBA or an advanced degree can also be advantageous.
