Senior Lead Architect - Open Banking

Shaping the Future of Technology as a Senior Lead Architect at JPMorgan Chase

If you are excited about shaping the future of technology and driving significant business impact in financial services, JPMorgan Chase is looking for individuals like you. The banking giant is currently on the lookout for a Senior Lead Architect to join their team within Consumer and Community Banking. The role is not merely a job; it is an opportunity to develop game-changing, high-quality solutions that will help shape the architecture of various software applications and platforms products.

Responsibilities of a Senior Lead Architect at JPMorgan Chase

As a Senior Lead Architect, you will play a crucial role in representing a product family of technical governance bodies. You will be responsible for reviewing incoming work requests to determine their architectural significance and creating target state architecture documents and guiding principles using artifact standards. Domain boundaries are to be followed when proposing design recommendations.

Championing broader platform thinking in solutions versus meeting project level asks is a vital part of the job. You will partner with CCB architects to determine the best solution within domains and work with Application Development teams to estimate the cost of proposed solutions.

Furthermore, you will facilitate and coordinate the architecture definition during the early stages of the project life cycle, participate in design tollgates and evaluate designs through a standard scoring process. Challenging designs during the concept and review phases to drive towards re-use, efficiency, security, and stability is an integral part of your role.

As a Senior Lead Architect, you will drive decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes. Additionally, you will serve as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.

Skills and Qualifications Needed

JPMorgan Chase is looking for individuals with formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience. Experience in AWS or other public cloud platforms is preferred, and certification in this field is a bonus. A strong business acumen in banking technology is also preferred.

Excellent communication and leadership skills are needed to influence others effectively. The ability to communicate effectively with business leaders, application developers, and systems technology experts is crucial. Additionally, the ability to work well at a conceptual level, resolve ambiguity, and drive concepts out into workable solutions is necessary.

You should possess excellent documentation skills to record concepts in a standardized manner, an executive presence to deliver key messages to senior leadership when needed, and the ability to define target state architectures and develop realistic transition plans for achieving target state (multi-horizon views). Deep experience in at least one technical subject area (e.g., database, application development, performance tuning, etc.) is required along with hands-on experience modeling with UML, object-oriented constructs, or other modeling language.

Preferred Capabilities

Additionally, knowledge of data architecture and some exposure to data modeling principles will be an advantage. Broad exposure to a variety of applications, technologies, and business functions including UI development and APIs is beneficial. Experience with high-volume transaction processing and large databases along with working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning concepts will make you a stronger candidate.
