Role and Responsibilities of a Banking Associate
The Banking Associate position is integral to TD’s Personal & Commercial Banking sector. This role is responsible for completing everyday banking transactions accurately, providing advice, and offering educational support on services, products, and tools to help customers achieve their financial goals. The banking associate is expected to perform a wide range of tasks across multiple areas within a TD store location, including processing customer transactions, opening new accounts, and educating customers on all banking products and services.
Key Aspects of the Role
The role involves building trust with customers through educational content & tools, providing consultative support, and advocating with proactive insights & recommendations. It requires the associate to understand the customer’s financial needs and identify opportunities to promote and educate on products, services, and refer them to the appropriate team member or internal Bank partner, all while ensuring a positive customer experience.
Key Qualifications and Skills
Prospective candidates must hold a high school diploma or GED, with at least 1-year experience working with customers. This experience can be demonstrated through any of the following: volunteering, education, or military experience. Teller experience and a Notary License are preferred but not mandatory.
Successful applicants must possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, have the ability to work independently and within deadlines, and show proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Customer and Shareholder Accountabilities
The Banking Associate role at TD requires consistently providing legendary customer service while transacting, promoting, educating, and referring TD Products to new and existing customers. The associate will also engage in lobby leadership, representing the first point of contact for customer inquiries and orchestrating the customer walk-in traffic. They must ensure tasks are performed within established policy and procedures and comply with TD Code of Conduct.
On the shareholder side, the associate will ensure compliance when completing operational activities in accordance with company guidelines and regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act and Patriot Act to minimize risk and protect the customer.
Employee/Team Accountabilities and Physical Requirements
As a team player, the associate is expected to contribute to a positive work environment by aligning with TD Model, Brand, and Culture. The associate must also be an active participant in personal performance and development activities.
The physical requirements for this role range from performing sedentary work and operating standard office equipment to moving safely in confined spaces and performing multiple tasks. Domestic travel may be required occasionally.
