The Role: Director, Technical Program Management (Bank Tech)
Capital One is currently seeking a top-tier Director for the role of Technical Program Management (TPM) in Bank Tech to lead strategic initiatives for Banking Data and Decisioning. This role is critical to driving the execution of a cohesive roadmap across multiple workstreams and lines of business that will result in significant impacts on the company.
The successful candidate will be at the helm of platform modernization, future innovation, and expansion of business value. In addition, the role involves teaching the organization what a great TPM can achieve by leveraging industry knowledge and experience.
Qualities of Our TPM Directors
Capital One’s TPM Directors possess a unique blend of skills and attributes. They have strong technical backgrounds, ideally with experience in building highly scalable platforms, products, or services. They have the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery life-cycle. They also possess exceptional communication and collaboration skills and have a deep focus on execution, follow-through, accountability, and results.
Other qualities include excellent problem-solving skills, a quantitative approach to problem-solving, and the ability to simplify the technically complex. Our TPM Directors have a deep-seated empathy for teams and partners and are able to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to achieve the desired outcomes.
Basic and Preferred Qualifications
The basic qualifications for this role include a Bachelor’s Degree and at least 7 years of experience managing technical programs. However, preferred qualifications include extensive experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing, experience in building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services/architecture, and experience delivering large and complex programs.
Other preferred qualifications include experience in building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment and a Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering). An MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience is also preferred.
