As a Data Analyst at Capital One, you’ll have the opportunity to use your analytic and technical skills to build and maintain data solutions. Data Analysts: Innovators and Problem Solvers

Innovation

Data Analysts at Capital One use Open Source/Digital technologies to mine data from various sources and platforms. They build well-managed data solutions and tools, and demonstrate the ability to quickly grasp new technologies to support varied initiatives. The goal is always to innovate and improve.

Business Intelligence

On the business intelligence front, Data Analysts partner with the business to translate business needs into design and development tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualization. They drive analysis that provides meaningful insights on business strategies.

Data Management

When it comes to data management, Data Analysts ensure understanding and adherence to the principles of data quality management. This includes managing metadata, lineage, and business definitions. They work collaboratively with tech teams to manage security mechanisms and data access governance and build and execute tools to monitor and report on data quality.

Who is the Ideal Candidate for this Role?

The ideal candidate for the Data Analyst role at Capital One is someone with a degree specialized in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics discipline. They should have scripting experience in Python, R, Spark, and SQL. A strong desire and experience with data in various forms, including data warehouses/SQL and unstructured data, is essential. They should also have experience utilizing and developing within Snowflake services.

There are also a few basic and preferred qualifications. These include a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a quantitative field, experience with scripting languages, business intelligence visualization tools, and data languages and platforms. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics discipline, coding experience in Python, R, Spark, or SQL, and experience with process management and improvement methodologies such as Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.
