The Role of the Financial Analyst

We have an immediate opening for a Financial Analyst in our Mortgage Warehouse division. The individual will be responsible for financial planning and analysis, budgeting, monthly financial forecasts, financial modeling, financial analysis, and ad hoc analysis and reporting. The role also entails completing end-of-day close out and reporting, assisting on the monthly forecast, and balance sheet and income statement annual plans. The Financial Analyst will also complete monthly and ad hoc forecast reporting, partner with finance and accounting, and complete various analyses. This role offers regular interaction with management and financial team liaisons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participation in annual planning process and monthly forecasts, which involves financial modeling, coordinating, and preparing management presentations.
  • Financial modeling of strategic and business inputs.
  • In-depth plan and monthly forecasting support and analysis, for completion of annual plan, monthly forecast, and the three-year strategic plan.
  • Analysis of income and operating expenses to understand trends, address line of business requests, and perform variance analysis.
  • Completing management financial reporting including dashboards, monthly business reviews, profitability reports and other reports as necessary.
  • Enhancing controls and streamlining processes, introducing automation and clarity throughout business line.
  • Reviewing and identifying inconsistencies and/or issues within the business unit’s forecast and making appropriate changes in the model and reports.

What You Need

We are looking for candidates who have a Bachelor’s degree preferably in finance, mathematics, or economics, with 1-5 years of financial or business analyst experience. Strong academic credentials are key, and while experience in banking is desired, it’s not essential. The working hours for this role are expected to be approximately from 12:00pm – 8:00pm EST and are subject to change. Experience supporting the financial services industry is a strong plus.

Candidates should have a strong analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills. The ability to collaborate and effectively communicate with key stakeholders, cross-functional partners, and senior leadership is essential. We value a strong work ethic and self-initiative, with the ability to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced and changing work environment. A solid organization skillset, the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities while achieving superior results, and a strong attention to detail are all desirable.

Technology Skills

Our Financial Analyst should be able to work with the Microsoft Suite and learn/work with other Customers Bank’s applications. Experience with FP&A systems (experience of Essbase and Workday a plus), Power BI, and experience utilizing various AI platforms are all desired. Familiarity with Microsoft Access databases is a bonus.
