Role and Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer at Capital One, you’ll play a pivotal role in the company’s major technological transformation. Your primary duties will revolve around the back end of software engineering, particularly marrying data with emerging technologies.
Collaboration and Development
You’ll work closely with Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions. These collaborative efforts will involve the use of full-stack development tools and technologies. Your role will also require you to collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions which will empower millions of Americans financially.
Learning and Experimenting
Keeping up-to-date with tech trends and learning new technologies is a key part of this role. You’ll be expected to participate in both internal and external technology communities, and share your expertise by mentoring other members of the engineering community.
Programming and Tools
In this role, you’ll use a variety of programming languages, including Java, Python, SQL, Node, Go, and Scala. You’ll also work with open-source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, container orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services.
Qualifications and Experience
The basic qualifications for this role include a Bachelor’s Degree and at least three years of professional software engineering experience. Internship experience does not apply.
Preferred Qualifications
Capital One prefers candidates with more than five years of experience in Java, Scala, Python, Go, or Node.js. One year of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service is also preferred. Additionally, three years of experience in open source frameworks and two years of experience in Agile practices is desirable.
